DowDuPont to Build Semiconductor Manufacturing Facility in Cheonan

(HONGSEONG=Yonhap News) DowDuPont, the American global chemical company will build a semiconductor manufacturing facility in Cheonan, Chungcheongnam-do Province.

Chungnam-do said on November 13 that Governor Yang Seung-jo and Gu Man-seop, Deputy Mayor of Cheonan signed an MOU on investment of specialty products with DowDuPont in Massachusetts.

DowDuPont is a global company formed after the merger of Dow Chemical and DuPont in December 2015 and has plans to split up into three companies next year.

DuPont will be in charge of the specialty products included in the MOU.

DuPont will expand its plant on a plot of 22,000 ㎡ by 2023 in the Cheonan Third Industrial Complex and Cheonan Foreign Investment Area to produce materials necessary for semiconductor and display process.

As of last year, DuPont had 30,000 employees and recorded sales of USD 21 billion.

"The investment of DowDuPont will add great value to the regional economy, such as creating jobs," said Governor Yang. "We will provide support to make sure the investment is made successfully."
