The Korea National Food Cluster to Draw a Blueprint for the 4th Industrial Revolution

(SEOUL=Yonhap News) The Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs (MAFRA) announced on November 26 that it will hold Food Industry and the Fourth Industrial Revolution International Symposium on 27 at the National Food Cluster in Iksan, Jeollabuk-do.

This year's Symposium will examine the connection between the Fourth Industrial Revolution and the food industry and provide advanced technologies and latest information to the industry by inviting Korean and overseas experts from the U.S., Germany and Japan.

Park Jong-oh, Director of Robot Research Initiative and a member of the Presidential Committee on the Fourth Industrial Revolution will deliver a keynote speech on the policy direction of the government. Dr. Christian Seybold, from German Institute of Food Technologies will give a presentation on the cases of applying big data and artificial intelligence to Germany's agriculture and food industries.

During the event day, an exhibition hall for robots and 3D printers to help understand technologies of the Fourth Industrial Revolution will be prepared and test products from young startup support lab in the National Food Cluster will be introduced.

A signboard hanging ceremony will be held for HMR Innovative Technology Support Center to secure base technologies for Home Meal Replacement (HMR) and support development of technologies.

"The event will serve as a platform to view the current status of the Korean food industry and to exchange information between companies in the National Food Cluster and food-related businesses," said an official from the Ministry.
