Date
2018.12.27

According to Yonhap News,

(SEOUL=Yonhap News) Prices of boxed lunch products have increased at the fastest pace among all ready to eat meals sold this year, government data showed Thursday.

According to the data by Statistics Korea, the prices of lunch boxes, which are mostly sold at convenience stores, increased 6.5 percent compared to the year before from January through the end of November 2018.

The increase is much higher than the 1.5 percent rise in consumer prices and the 3 percent jump in dining out costs for the same period on-year, the data showed.

The agency said prices of boxed meals, including rib soup and gimbap -- rice rolled in seaweed with vegetables inside -- shot up 6 percent and 5.6 percent on-year, respectively, for the cited period, the latest findings showed.

The data is based on 39 types of easy to eat boxed meals that are in high demand in the country.
