According to Yonhap News,
(SEOUL=Yonhap News) South Korea's government said Wednesday it kicked off the International Textile Fair in Daegu jointly with municipal authorities, inviting hundreds of textile and fashion firms from around the globe.
The Ministry of Trade, Industry, and Energy and the Daegu metropolitan government is hosting the event in the city, located 302 kilometers from Seoul, where around 400 local and 120 overseas companies took part in sharing the latest trends of the fashion industry.
The organizer said officials from major department stores and shopping malls from 22 countries will visit the venue and hold meetings with the participating fashion firms for potential business contracts.
The event will run through Friday.
"In order to overcome challenges from home and abroad, the textile and fashion industry must improve their products' qualities based on technologies and unique ideas," the ministry said.
Accordingly, the ministry said fashion firms must seek to make high-end products customized for different customers, and apply information and communication technologies in their businesses ranging from development to production.
