Date

According to Pulse by Maeil Business News Korea,

U.S.-based semiconductor components manufacturer Versum Materials Inc. is expected to invest 100 billion won ($88.8 million) to add production lines for Nitrogen Trifluoride (NF3) in Ulsan, South Korea.

Versum Materials Korea said Tuesday it signed a memorandum of understanding with Ulsan Metropolitan City for a 100 billion won investment for the next four years to ramp up NF3 production in Ulsan, South Gyeongsang Province.

The new manufacturing line commanding a space of 5,323 square meters is expected to bolster the city’s overall production by 130 billion won annually with the addition of 300 new jobs in the city, according to estimates by the city office.

Versum Materials has sought for a suitable site for its new NF3 lines since last year in a preemptive measure to cope with an increase in orders from semiconductor manufacturers in the future. Ulsan Metropolitan City beat out fine candidates in China and the U.S. by offering various benefits including tax incentives and well-established infrastructure. Ulsan Mayor Song Cheol-ho pledged all-out efforts to support the building project.

The Arizona-based company develops, manufactures, transports and handles specialty materials for the semiconductor and display industries. It reported $1.4 billion revenue last year.
