Date
2019.03.12

According to Yonhap News,

(SEOUL=Yonhap News) The Ministry of SMEs and Startups (MSS) announced on March 11 that, on the occasion of President Moon Jae-in's visit to three countries including Malaysia, Cambodia, and Brunei, it will hold various events to promote economic exchanges to help SMEs make inroads into these countries.

According to MSS, the Small & medium Business Corporation (SBC) will hold "Korea-Malaysia Technology Exchange Conference and B2B Meeting" jointly with the Malaysia SME Corporation at Le Méridien Kuala Lumpur on March 13.

11 companies in the fields of eco-friendly technologies, auto parts, and IT services with promising prospects for entering the Malaysian market will have consultation with local enterprises there.

The Korea Federation of SMEs (KBIZ) will send a market development delegation to Malaysia and Cambodia.

The Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency (KOTRA) is also to hold an event, jointly with MaGIC (public accelerator to nurture startups) in which 12 Korean startups hoping to enter the Southeast Asian countries will have business briefing session and investment attraction activities at Shangri-La Hotel, Kuala Lumpur on March 13.

Korean franchises will also participate in an event designed to help those seeking the entry into these countries, at the same venue on the same day.

Riding on the Hallyu (Korean wave) boom spreading across Southeast Asian countries, this event will give a chance for about 15 companies to explore possibility of entering the Malaysian market, a high-income country among Southeast Asia but difficult conditions, i.e. Halal certification attached due to the Islamic culture.
