On April 26, the Ministry of SMEs and Startups (MSS) announced that it held the 1st "Beyond TIPS in 2019" to help outstanding start-up teams participating in the MSS' TIPS program to secure follow-on investment, and a chance for technology partnership and M&A.
Tech Incubator Program for Start-up (TIPS) is a program that selects outstanding start-ups and match them with private investment and government R&D.
At the event, held on April 25 at Tips Town in Seoul, start-ups in the fields of Artificial Intelligence (AI) had a chance to showcase their products and business models, participating in the IR pitching session, consulting sessions and networking with large corporations.
The MSS plans to have four more "Beyond TIPS" event this year, in conjunction with various innovation entities including large corporations and investment institutions.
An official from the MSS said, "TIPS program has become a successful model of innovative start-up program led by the private sector. We plan to advance TIPS this year, increasing the number of annual TIPS startups teams from 250 this year to 500 in 2022," adding that "we hope this event serves as an opportunity for large corporations and startups, as well as a place for setting the example of the win-win for the Korean economy."
