(SEOUL=Yonhap News) On July 23, the Ministry of SMEs and Startups announced that it is to run a Future Industry Strategy Team, a task force (TF) in charge of fostering system semiconductor, artificial intelligence (AI), and future car.

This TF is to be run for a two-year fixed term by 2021, focusing on communication with SMEs on site to foster new industries.

Also, it will compose a group of 150 expert mentors, who will provide consultation to companies on a continuous basis.

In particular, instead of existing government-led support where companies had to search and apply for government projects, the TF will support SMEs and mentors to identify and then design 250 projects.

A director general for Startup Promotion Policy of the MSS said, "We will do our best to create a sound ecosystem and help SMEs and startups in new industries such as system semiconductor, AI, and future cars gain competitiveness."
