Bio Incheon Global Conference (Big C) 2019, co-hosted by Incheon Metropolitan City, KOTRA, and Incheon National University (INU), opened at Songdo Convensia, Incheon on August 20.
Big C 2019 was held with a theme "New Horizons of Bio pharmaceutics", where experts from home and abroad exchanged various opinions on the future prospect of and strategies for industrialization of bio pharmaceuticals.
Incheon mayor Park Nam-choon said in his welcoming speech, "As this conference is held in Incheon, the world's largest bio medical production base, I hope it will grow as an important venue for networking in the bio-health industry."
Global Bio & Pharma Plaza (GBPP) 2019 was held in conjunction, where 50 foreign companies from 29 countries and 80 domestic companies participated to have business consultation.
INU presented about 30 convergence research results between bio sector and other areas at INU Global Bio-Convergence Forum.
A cluster is formed in Incheon Songdo International City, with 70 research, manufacturing, service companies in the bio, medical, healthcare sectors including Celltrion, Samgsung Biologics are concentrated.
Songdo's bio pharmaceutical productive capacity is 560,000ℓ, surpassing that of San Francisco (440,000ℓ) and Singapore (270,000ℓ).
