WONJU, Oct. 20 (Yonhap) -- The largest trade festival in North East Asia '2019 GTI International Trade & Investment Expo' came to an end on Oct 20.

Gangwon Province said the scale was the largest ever, attracting over 230,000 for four days from the very start of the event. This year, in particular, the expo added over 130,000 more guests than it did last year.

Exhibitors there reached over 1,368 cases of on-site investment contracts, worth USD 326.20 million with their business counterparts. The investment volume doubles in its size this year.

Also, a large number of visitors who took part in the expo reached numerous cases of export contracts and memorandum of understanding for further cooperation with their partners.

There have been many eye-catching events such as a special session to share success stories among CEOs in cosmetic industry in Asia or an informal social gathering to promote friendship among local residents eating iconic Korean dish, chicken and beer combo.

An award ceremony to give a prize to the top 20 enterprises was held on the last day of the event.

To boost local economy, a large group of delegates that consist of over 10,000 people have come to the site to give a word of encouragement. The venue was crowded with hundreds and thousands of visitors who swarmed into the place for entertainment.

Gangwon Province said "What made this festival so successful is a cross over, turning old, boring exhibition into something close to a huge cultural festival where everyone can enjoy."
