IFEZA to gear up for a smart city project
Date
2019.12.18

According to Yonhap News,

Incheon Free Economic Zone Authority (IFEZA) is likely to speed up the process for so-called a smart city development project, which primarily focuses on laying out basic infrastructure for urban transformation in Songdo, Cheongna & Youngjong.

Songdo Smart City will embark on laying water & gas pipeline underground in June next year. Youngjong Haneul City is set to be in charge, taking over the master plan from Korea Land Corporation (KLC), a main body of the city project.

With ubiquitously embedded intelligence in the combination of digital networks, smart cities provide 24/7 access to public services covering transportation, security patrol, disaster prevention, living conditions and information to improve convenience through any connected devices. This gives a glimpse of a futuristic urban landscape surrounded by an array of technologies with varying levels of interaction between residents & devices.

IFEZA will form an inter-city operating center next year which costs reportedly KRW 5.7 billion inside Songdo Int’l city G tower. IFEZA’s master plan to embrace state of the art to develop smart cities has already got positive feedback overseas. The project was selected as the best urban planning in the IDC’s ‘Smart City Asia Pacific Award 2017’ index, which studies world’s excellent urban development technologies within Asia-Pacific region.
