According to Yonhap News,

SEOUL, Aug.27 (Yonhap)- Korea Trade –Investment Promotion Agency (KOTRA) hosted an online trade fair “K-Food in Bangkok”, designed to showcase Korean foods to buyers in Thailand on Aug 26. At the presence of 20 food makers in Korea, who wish to form sales channels for market entry in Bangkok, nearly 42 Thai counterparts that include a giant retailer, Siam Makro PCL and CP ALL PCL were invited to the virtual event.

With rapid changes to day-to-day life since coronavirus struck, customers are more likely to turn to convenience food, which drives up demand for Korean food in Thailand. Exports of Korean instant noodle and sauce went up 43.4 percent and 89.7 percent year over year, KOTRA said. What’s behind the recent popularity may lie with fans who love Korean TV shows and drama series (called K-drama) aired online, which has sparked a boom to learn more on food culture in Korea.

The agency has been all set for the event to help the attendees get well matched with potential business partners, while sourcing product samples to let local buyers taste on site.
