(SEOUL=Yonhap News) '2021 Bio Korea', the largest international convention on the biotech and health industry in Korea, has kicked off on June 9.

The Ministry of Health and Welfare said that the 16th Bio Korea will be held on June 9-11 at C Hall, COEX, Seoul.

An online convention, held on www.biokorea.org, will continue until June 21.

This global event is participated by about 680 companies from 53 countries in total, expecting about 20,000 visitors.

This year's convention will look at how bio-health technologies should respond to the new era.

About 230 local and overseas experts in the bio-health industry from 18 countries will discuss a wide range of subjects.

The subjects they will deal with include: how to develop safe and effective vaccines and secure production technologies, information about next-generation rapid diagnostic test, issues of domestic digital therapeutics, and approval review plans.

At the Invest Fair, CEOs of 20 companies (e.g., Cellid, Bioneer, and Lunit) will be present, who are engaged in seven sectors including COVID-19 therapeutics and antibody platforms.

At the Job Fair, 50 Korean companies will recruit about 250 employees. An all-year-round recruitment platform will be accessible online, while the competition for creative startup ideas is to take place as well.
