According to Yonhap News,

(Cornwall=Yonhap News) President Moon Jae-in on June 13 emphasized the need for global collaboration in pursuit of free trade and open economies at the Group of Seven(G7) summit in Britain.

The president attended a plenary session on open societies and economies, participated also by leaders of G7 and guest countries, and UN UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres.

President Moon briefed the other leaders on South Korea's experience in democratization and efforts to realize an open society.

He emphasized the need to counter racism, extremism and other threats to open societies, and insisted open economies are vital to that end.

Moon said that Korea is working to help other countries enhance their democracy through its New Southern Policy and development cooperation projects. Participating leaders formed a consensus on the importance of open and fair trade and open economies.

The presidential office said, "Korea's economy is highly dependent on trade and its companies are also based on free trade," adding that "President's message stressing the importance of free trade will be helpful in Korean companies doing business abroad."
