Citing analysis from Refinitiv's, a financial data provider, Fox Business reported that M&A transactions had been most active since data collection began in 1980, driven by low interest rate, good performance of companies, and vigorous investment attraction activities.

The M&A transaction value in the first half of last year was USD 511.79 billion, and USD 1.28 trillion in the first half of 2019 - prior to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Experts pointed that a rise in M&A transaction value is attributable to an increased liquidity thanks to economic stimulus measures by the government to overcome the COVID-19 crisis and vitalized financing through corporate bond.

In addition, an increase in activities of about 500 Special Purpose Acquisition Company (SPAC) is also pointed as a contributor to an increase in M&A transactions.

Fox Business reported that experts expect an active M&A market in the coming 12-18 months.
