According to Yonhap News,
(SEOUL=Yonhap News) The Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power (KHNP) said on August 4 that it won a bid for 'Start-up Transformer in Cernavoda Nuclear Power Plant' worth about EUR 7 million (about KRW 10 billion), in cooperation with domestic nuclear power plant company Iljin Electric.
It is the first time for KHNP to export large equipment for nuclear power plant.
In this project, the KHNP will be in charge of project management and quality control, while Iljin Electric will be responsible for equipment design and manufacturing.
As a start-up transformer, a main part of power system in the nuclear power plant, requires high-level of maintenance, the KHNP expects continuous needs for supply, such as regular replacement of parts, etc.
Cernavoda Nuclear Power Plant is a power plant in operation in the eastern part of Romania, which is a heavy water reactor type just like Wolsong Nuclear Power Plant in Korea.
KHNP President Chung, Jae-hoon said "It is an example of expanding export channels through win-win cooperation with domestic nuclear power plant company" adding "we will actively support domestic companies to enter overseas markets."
