According to Yonhap News,

(SEOUL=Yonhap News) The Ministry of the Interior and Safety (MOIS) announced on August 26 that it had signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) on digital government cooperation with the Colombia Ministry of Information Technologies and Communications on August 25.

With the signing of this MOU, which took place on the occasion of Colombian President Ivan Duque Marquez's visit to Korea, the two countries will share Korea's best practices and experiences in digital government, and strengthen cooperation in the digital government sector, such as people-to-people exchanges, joint research, policy advice, technical support, and establishment of a cooperation committee.

Specifically, the Korean government plans--with focus on the digital government project the Colombian government is pushing for--to introduce Korea's case of establishing system and policy status, and go ahead with a plan to hold a cooperative forum, offer training, and dispatch experts.

Colombia has been actively pushing for the development of digital government since joining the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) last year, and the MOIS explained that Colombia is planned to place an order for a digital government system in the fields of national tax, customs and justice worth more than $300 million through an international tender .

Minister Jeon Hae-cheol of the MOIS said, "By taking the signing of this MOU as an opportunity, we will strengthen cooperation with the Colombian government and support Korean companies to participate in Colombia's digital government project based on trust between governments."
