(INCHEON=Yonhap News) Incheon Metropolitan City announced on October 26 that a series of inquiries have been received from companies engaged in the robot industry with regard to investment in 'Incheon Robot Industry Innovation Cluster', scheduled to be established in 2024.
Having changed the Incheon Robot Land's development plan in June this year, the city has actively gone out to attract investment, resulting in a number of investment agreements, including with; Roborobo, a leading educational robot company in Korea; Potenit, a logistics robot company; and With Next Corp, a testing and analysis company.
Also, there have been about 10 companies which suggested relocation of headquarters or research centers, and investment in industrial land to set up a robot demonstration space, among others.
The Robot Industry Innovation Cluster is to be established in the site of 250,000 square meters within Robot Land, Cheongna-dong, Seo-gu in Incheon. It will consist of automated robot manufacturing complex, future service robot pilot complex for medical and entertainment services, 4th industrial new technology robot convergence complex, and a specialized complex for autonomous driving and logistics robot.
The city plans to begin designing for infrastructure construction next year and complete the construction in 2024. Besides the cluster, Incheon also plans to complete the whole Incheon Robot Land projects which include a project to build a 163,000 square meter-robot theme park in 2024.
