(HWASUN=Yonhap News) The 2021 Hwasun International Vaccine Forum, which will be a sign of the status of Korea's vaccine industry, kicked off at Hanium Culture & Sports Center in Hwasun-gun on November 4.
The Forum is held under the theme of 'COVID-19 Pandemic Era, Korean Vaccine's Status', for two days with on-site presentations and video conferences taking place simultaneously.
Director-General Jerome H. Kim, of the International Vaccine Institute (IVI), gave a lecture under the subject of 'Lessons about Global Vaccine learned from COVID-19 in transition from pandemic to endemic'. followed by session presentations by Professor Jung-jaehun of University of Gaehon University, Professor Kang Chang-yul of Seoul National University, and Director-General Seong Baik-lin of VITAL-Korea.
On the following day, November 5, there will be IVC's international academic conference under the subject of 'New vaccine frontier in COVID-19 era'.
Before the opening of the Forum, Hwasun-gun, along with Jeollanam-do, signed an investment agreement worth KRW 22.7 billion with 6 domestic pharmaceutical companies.
The agreement is said to contain matters related with increasing employment in the region, fostering local talents, and establishing production plants in Korea's only vaccine industrial complex in Hwasun.
