According to Yonhap News,
The government will expand the installation of Korean pavilions at major international exhibitions to support exports.
On February 19, the Ministry of Trade, Industry, and Energy (MOTIE) and the Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency (KOTRA) announced that they will expand the overseas exhibition Korean pavilion installation project to 105 events.
According to such plan, KOTRA will operate large-scale Korean pavilions at global exhibitions, including CES held in Las Vegas last month, the Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona, Spain, the Bologna Beauty Exhibition in Italy, the Hannover Industrial Exhibition in Germany, and the Bio Exhibition in the U.S.A.
Through the installation of Korean pavilions, around 2,000 companies will be supported, and the number of companies eligible for individual exhibition participation will increase from 1,223 last year to approximately 1,400.
By industry, KOTRA will focus on exhibitions related to shipbuilding, energy, biotechnology, and consumer goods, which have emerged as strategic industries with the launch of Trump's second term. The Korean pavilion will be operated 53 times annually in these sectors.
Regionally, to expand market access to the rising Global South (emerging and developing countries primarily located in the Southern Hemisphere), KOTRA plans to run 23 Korean pavilions at promising exhibitions in these regions annually.
KOTRA President Kang Kyung-sung stated, "Even in an era where digital innovation is emphasized, the importance of traditional exhibition marketing is still significant. By adding innovation to existing export marketing methods, we will actively support our companies to grow in the global market."
