According to Yonhap News,

The Minister Ahn of Trade, Industry and Energy, stated on March 24 that "We will actively promote foreign investment policies, including significantly strengthening foreign investment incentives, improving the foreign investment environment to meet global standards, and conducting strategic outreach, regardless of domestic and international environment changes."

Minister Ahn made this statement during the "Foreign Investment Strategy Meeting" held at the Grand Intercontinental Hotel in Gangnam-gu, Seoul, attended by about 20 representatives from Chambers of Commerce of foreign countries including the U.S., Europe, Japan, and China, as well as representatives of foreign-invested companies. He stated, "The domestic and international environment continues to be highly uncertain due to the deepening of protectionism and supply chain restructuring."

Minister Ahn, who is responsible for foreign investment attraction, held five meetings with foreign business leaders since taking office in February last year.

At this event, which was held to enhance communication between the government and foreign-invested companies, representatives of foreign chambers of commerce and foreign-invested companies in Korea expressed their appreciation for the Korean government's efforts to create a business-friendly environment. They suggested strengthening investment support in the electric vehicle sector, easing regulations in sectors such as healthcare and offshore wind, improving living conditions, and expanding incentives to enable freer business activities and investment expansion.

At the meeting, foreign companies such as Vena Energy and Corning reported investment plans totaling more than USD 300 million in fields like offshore wind and advanced materials.

The Ministry stated, "Including this investment report, we plan to provide close support to ensure that all reported investments proceed quickly and smoothly."
