According to Yonhap News,

On April 10, the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy (MOTIE) announced that the Clean Energy Ministerial Senior Officials' Meeting and Mission Innovation Annual Gathering opened in Seoul on April 9.

Approximately 280 participants, including senior government officials from energy ministries of 24 member countries, international organizations, and experts, attended the three-day meeting.

The meeting will discuss global clean energy deployment and technological innovations, share policy trends to accelerate the transition to clean energy, and explore cooperation strategies across different sectors. It will also review preparations for the upcoming Clean Energy and Mission Innovation Ministerial Meeting, scheduled to be held in August.

Korea is the chair country for the 2025 Clean Energy and Mission Innovation Ministerial Meeting, and at the high-level expert group meeting, the country proposed key discussion agenda items for the upcoming energy ministers’ meeting, including expanding clean electricity, promoting hydrogen as a future fuel, and advancing AI and energy innovations.

Clean electricity, hydrogen, and AI technologies are critical elements in addressing the climate crisis, promoting clean energy, and strengthening energy security. The meeting will focus on finding cooperative strategies for support policies and technological innovations to advance these areas.

The Clean Energy and Mission Innovation Ministerial Meeting, scheduled for August in Busan, will be held alongside the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Energy Ministers' Meeting (August 27-28) and the World Climate Industry Expo (WCE, August 27-29), creating an opportunity for energy ministers from over 40 countries to engage in collaborative exchanges.

The Director-General of the MOTIE’s Energy Policy stated, "This meeting was a meaningful opportunity to discuss cooperative strategies for a sustainable future and address key agenda items for the Clean Energy Ministerial Meeting. We will do our best to explore the future of the energy sector and ensure the success of the event through the upcoming Energy Super Week in August."
