South Korean electronics giants Samsung Electronics Co. and LG Electronics Inc. said Tuesday they will likely be awarded for innovative products at this year's Consumer Electronics Show, one of the world's biggest consumer electronics fairs.
A total of 27 Samsung products and 10 LG products are scheduled to receive accolades for their innovativeness at the 2013 CES, which is scheduled to open in Las Vegas on Jan. 8-11, the two companies said in separate press releases.
The list of electronics products selected for the CES innovation awards include released products, such as Samsung's flagship Galaxy S3 smartphone, as well as products that will be unveiled at the annual technology fair.
The two tech behemoths have showcased a variety of new products at the CES. Earlier this year, they displayed 55-inch OLED TVs and announced plans to start mass production by the end of the year.
Meanwhile, Samsung said its 85-inch ultra HD TV and camera optimized for smart TVs were among the products that were named for the "Best of Innovation" awards. LG also said its 84-inch ultra HD TV was selected for the top award.
Both companies welcomed this year's award nominations.
"The CES innovation awards show that LG's technology, design and service competitiveness has been acknowledged. We plan to continue to provide differentiated values for consumers through various products," said an LG official.
