According to Yonhap News,

On March 12, the Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency (KOTRA), in collaboration with the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, and Transport (MOLIT) announced that it held the '2025 Mexico Smart City & Digital Government Roadshow' in Mexico City.

This event, designed to support the overseas expansion of domestic smart city technology companies, is part of a delegation program, scheduled for seven Latain American and ASEAN countries, beginning this year in Mexico, followed by stops in Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand (May), Uzbekistan (September), and Saudi Arabia (October).

President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo of Mexico, who took office in October last year, announced an 'Innovation Technology Development Program,' under which advanced urban systems such as smart transportation systems and smart security centers are actively being developed in major cities.

Additionally, Mexico also has expressed interest in cooperating in the field of administrative technology, by establishing a 'Digital Transformation Strategy Office' to enhance digital administrative services.

The event saw participation from 12 domestic companies, with over 80 local buyers and clients, and included forums, showcases, and business consultation sessions focused on ICT cooperation between Korea and Mexico.

Korean companies showcased intelligent transportation systems (ITS), cybersecurity solutions, disaster prevention solutions, and more to local buyers and government officials through the forums and showcases.

The business consultation session involved stakeholders from companies such as Metrobús, which operates seven bus rapid transit (BRT) routes in Mexico City, Sonda, the largest IT services company in Latin America, and Atsco, a leading plant company from Mexico. Around 100 consultations were held, and three memorandums of understanding (MOUs) were signed.

Jung Oi-young, Executive Vice President for Innovative Growth of KOTRA, stated, "We will continue to support Korean companies to successfully enter the Global South markets with their excellent ICT technologies."
