According to Yonhap News,
(Seoul = Yonhap News) Reporter Shin Chang-yong – The Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency (KOTRA), together with the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in China and the Korea Health Industry Development Institute, announced on the 19th that they are holding "Medical Korea in China" in Beijing, China, for three days starting from the 18th.
This event is the first business cooperation event in the silver industry sector conducted since the signing of the memorandum of understanding (MOU) on the silver economy between South Korean and Chinese government ministries in November last year.
China's population aged 60 and older has currently surpassed 320 million, bringing the country to the brink of entering a super-aged society. The scale of China's silver market is projected to reach approximately CNY 30 trillion (approximately KRW 5,700 trillion) by 2035.
In particular, China's elderly population has recently emerged as a primary consumer class, backed by substantial asset holdings and digital literacy. The State Council of China also designated the silver industry as a national strategic industry in 2024 and has been expanding related support.
The event consisted of the operation of a Korean Pavilion within the 'China International Senior Services Expo'—a representative exhibition of China's silver industry—and the 'Korea-China Silver Economy Forum.'
At the Korean Pavilion, 21 companies, including domestic medical institutions and pharmaceutical and medical device enterprises, participated, resulting in around 500 export and investment consultations.
At the 'Korea-China Silver Economy Forum' held on the 19th, keynote presentations by silver industry-related organizations from both countries, pitching sessions by six domestic companies, and follow-up export consultations were conducted.
Huang Jae-won, Head of KOTRA's China Regional Headquarters, stated, "The silver industry is a new driver for the Chinese economy and a growing export opportunity for us." He added, "By utilizing the 'K-Bio One Team' launched this time, we will do our utmost to ensure that our medical and silver industry-related companies can effectively enter the Chinese market."
