On June 12, the 'Korea-Netherlands Advanced Industry Investment Seminar' was held in Eindhoven, Netherlands
Focused on attracting investments in semiconductor, AI, robotics, and other advanced fields in collaboration with Gwangmyeong City and Incheon International Airport Corporation
Invest KOREA of KOTRA (President Kang Kyung-sung) hosted the 'Korea-Netherlands Advanced Industry Investment Seminar' on June 12 (local time) in Eindhoven, Netherlands, in collaboration with Gwangmyeong City (Mayor Park Seung-won) and Incheon International Airport Corporation (President Lee Hag-jae).
The event was attended by over 30 leading Dutch companies from the semiconductor and advanced technology sectors, including the Netherlands Enterprise Agency (RVO), the Brabant Provincial Government, and the High Tech NL Association. These companies, possessing core technologies in micro/nano electronics, new materials, and photonics, actively participated, demonstrating strong interest and willingness to enter the Korean market.
KOTRA presented an overview of Korea’s investment environment and incentives, focusing on trends and policies in the semiconductor industry and the current state of semiconductor clusters. The seminar also showcased region-specific support systems, such as those in the Incheon Airport Free Trade Zone and Gwangmyeong Techno Valley, as well as successful case studies of Dutch companies that have entered Korea, drawing significant attention from participating companies.
The Dutch government has designated IT technologies, including artificial intelligence and cybersecurity, as one of its ten key industries and is increasing R&D investments and global collaborations. For the Netherlands, Korea is becoming an increasingly important strategic hub for expansion into Asia and a partner for innovation. Global semiconductor equipment companies in the Netherlands, such as ASML, are supplying cutting-edge extreme ultraviolet (EUV) equipment to major semiconductor companies in Korea, while Korean semiconductor equipment and parts companies are also actively entering the Dutch market. KOTRA is facilitating various support measures to enhance mutual investment and cooperation, including partnerships with local clusters, support for startups, and the discovery of investment projects.
Commissioner Kim Tae-hyeong of Invest KOREA, stated, "The Netherlands is a hub for advanced technology innovation in Europe, with significant global cooperation demand in industries such as semiconductors, new materials, and photonics. Through this seminar, we hope to expand investment from outstanding Dutch semiconductor and advanced technology companies, contributing to the stabilization of global supply chains and securing future growth drivers."
