Chungnam Agricultural Brand and Shopping Mall Post Record Sales

(HONGSEONG=Yonhap News) A Chungnam regional agricultural brand recorded a jump in its first quarter sales.

On May 13, Chungnam-do revealed its Horticultural Crop Brand "Chungnam Ohgam" recorded a KRW 22.87 billion in Q1, up 95% YoY.

The success follows the expansion of the province and Nonghyup Chungnam headquarters' joint marketing efforts and the successful implementation of the integrated purchase and logistics support systems last year.

Sales of agricultural products as a result of the integrated marketing municipal and district governments also increased by 14% YoY to KRW 70.25 billion, thanks to sales promotions for large retailers and continuous policies to foster and educate producers.

An internet shopping mall for Chungnam's agricultural products recorded sales of KRW 9.88 billion, up 168% YoY.

The growth can be attributed to New Years sales, the operation of a fresh marketplace at Samsung Electronics' Onyang campus and a business agreement with Kakao.

In addition, exports also climbed 42% YoY to USD 170 million due to increased exports of ginseng to China and the resumption of chicken exports, which had been halted by the outbreak of AI (highly pathogenic Influenza).
