The Sejong Smart National Industrial Complex is a national industrial complex being developed in the Yeonseo-myeon area of Sejong Special Self-Governing City. It is intended to foster upstream and downstream industries related to new materials and components in response to the Fourth Industrial Revolution and to build a wide-area development ecosystem by integrating the industrial and innovation capabilities of the Chungcheong region, thereby strengthening national industrial competitiveness and laying an economic foundation for Sejong, the administrative capital. The industrial complex plan was approved and designated in October 2023.

The complex will cover a total area of approximately 2.8 million square meters, with a project cost of about KRW 1.8 trillion. Korea Land and Housing Corporation (LH) and Sejong City Transportation Corporation will serve as project implementers, with 85 percent and 15 percent shares, respectively, and they plan to create an advanced manufacturing and service cluster to attract large corporations and leading innovative companies. The primary targets for attraction include major corporations and anchor firms in advanced industries such as future mobility, smart cities, and bio-related sectors.

The land compensation program for the Sejong Smart National Industrial Complex has been in full swing since September 2025, with total compensation amounting to approximately KRW 1.5 trillion. Construction is scheduled to begin in the second half of 2026, with completion targeted for 2031, and land parcels are planned to be available for sale starting in the latter half of 2027.

In November 2024, the Sejong Smart National Industrial Complex was designated as an Opportunity Development Special Zone (Advanced Materials and Components Commercialization District), together with the Jiphyeon-dong Urban High-Tech Industrial Complex and Jeondo General Industrial Complex. This designation allows the complex to benefit from a wide range of incentives, including regulatory exemptions and tax support. Companies establishing new facilities within the complex will be eligible for corporate tax reductions, acquisition and property tax abatements, and a 5% increase in the local investment promotion grant rate. These measures are expected to drive substantial private investment and create high-quality jobs. Leveraging its strategic location and special-zone advantages, the Sejong Smart National Industrial Complex is expected to become a central hub for innovation in the smart mobility industry and a critical component in realizing Sejong’s vision as a self-sustaining city of the future.
