According to the Union of International Associations (UIA), Korea hosted 1,113 international conferences in 2019,
making it the world’s second most prolific host of international conferences. In the Travel and Tourism Competitiveness Report of the World Economic Forum (WEF),
Korea ranked 16th out of 140 countries. Shopping experiences in Korea have attracted more foreign tourists,

Increasing Number of Foreign Tourists in Korea OpenIncreasing Number of Foreign Tourists in KoreaThe number of foreign tourists who visited Korea increased 7.9% annually on average from 2010 to 2019.
While 8.79 million foreign tourists visited Korea in 2010, the number jumped to 17.50 million in 2019,
the highest on record in the last decade. Most foreign tourists visited for leisure/entertainment/relaxation (67.8%),

and entertainment in the past, but recently it has been expanding to multi-purpose shopping malls and resorts.Taubman, a US-based shopping mall developer and operator, made a joint investment through its subsidiary company,
Taubman Asia, with Shinsegae Property under Shinsegae Group and successfully completed the Starfield Hanam shopping mall in September 2016 and opened the Starfield Anseong mall in October 2020.
Sega Sammy Holdings, a Japanese entertainment company, worked with Korea’s Paradise Group to open Paradise City, the first multi-resort in Northeast Asia, on Yeongjong-do, Incheon.

Expansion of Tourism Belt and Marina Port OpenExpansion of Tourism Belt and Marina PortThe Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Korea established the third Tourism Development Basic Plan in 2010,
which included a tourism development policy direction and promotion strategies for more efficient development and management of tourism resources.The Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries of Korea developed the first Marina Port Basic Plan in 2010 and has designated hub marina ports and constructed infrastructure since that time. The second Marina Port Basic Plan was released in 2020,

Major Projects Introduce OpenMajor Projects IntroduceOsiria Tourism Complex is a multi-resort currently under construction in Busan. The complex may occupy as much as 3.36 million m2.
The complex includes a variety of facilities for leisure, shopping, accommodation, and theme parks. Starting with Lotte Premium Outlet—which opened in 2014—culture, shopping, and tourism facilities,
such as Hilton Busan, Ananti Cove Busan, and golf courses, opened in 2017. Additional theme parks are also under development.Jeollanam-do is currently transforming itself from a traditional agricultural region into a high-tech city based on the Fourth Industrial Revolution.
Under the goal of creating a tourism and leisure type, eco-friendly smart city, the province is promoting Solaseado Smart City project, which focuses on photovoltaic power generation, autonomous electric vehicles, and smart farming.Overview of Osiria Tourism Complex- Project period: 2006–2022
