According to Newsis News,

(GUNSAN=Newsis News) To promote eco-friendly agriculture, the City of Gunsan in North Jeolla Province will launch a new project to create two eco-friendly agricultural zones, with plans to complete all construction by the end of this year.

The City's Agricultural Technology Center announced Jan. 30 that "Two zones will be created to grow eco-friendly produce: the Igok Zone in Okgu, and the Mapo Zone in Seosu," adding, "currently, consulting and architectural-mechanical design companies have been selected, and the project is being carried out in earnest.

A total of KRW 4b will be spent on this project, with KRW 1.2bn from the national budget, KRW 600mn from the province, KRW 1.4bn from the city, and KRW 800mn from private sources.

The Igok Zone will be supplied with facilities and equipment, including traditional food facilities, low-temperature preservation units, eco-friendly machinery storage facilities, liquid manure spreaders and forklifts.

Plans for the Mapo Zone include grain polishing and drying facilities and equipment, as well as a new structure for seedling production.

According to Kim Seongwon, head of the county's Agricultural Policy Section, "this project will lower the cost of growing eco-friendly agricultural products and discourage the use of pesticides and chemical fertilizers, aiding in the improvement of the farming environment and the establishment of a production system for safe quality agricultural goods."
