(IKSAN=Yonhap News) The city of Iksan in North Jeolla Province announced that construction will begin next week on creating the Hotel Convention at the national industrial complex in Yeongdeung-dong.
The Water Life consortium plans to complete construction by August 2018 when the 99th National Sports Festival is scheduled to take place in Iksan.
A total of KRW 53 billion including national funding will be injected into building the new facility that will be capable of accommodating up to 900 persons at one time.
The city expects the new hotel to provide quality accommodation and event spaces for both tourists and business persons from across Korea and abroad.
Iksan Mayor Jeong Hun-Yul noted, "the new venue will revitalize the industrial complex and the wider local economy," adding, "the city will do its best to minimize the inconvenience local residents may experience during construction."
