On Septemebr 25, the local government of North Jeolla Province held a ceremony to welcome the institute's relocation to the new five-story building, with one underground floor, within Jeonbuk Innocity's research complex.

KFRI's move in was the final stage of the province's plan to attract twelve public organizations to the area.

KFRI is a food research center with 6 headquarters that studies the functionality of foods, supports R&D on new materials and processing technologies, as well as certifies and analyzes food products.

Some 400 employees will be working at the new location.
