The Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy is pushing ahead with regionally-customized projects to foster SMEs.

On May 16, the Ministry, Jeonbuk-do and other related organizations held the Jeonbuk Regional SMEs Conferences with about 25 people in attendance.

During the conference, the Ministry and Jeonbuk-do shared the "SME Vision 2280" and discussed ways to cooperate and foster the region's SMEs, including the establishment of a development base.

The Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy SME Policy Officer Lee Dongook stated, "It's important to foster innovative SMEs to contribute to the regional economy and create jobs." Lee added, "We will increase support for promising SMEs so they can grow in to locally-based SMEs."

Moreover, the leading SMEs in the region held the "2nd SME Campus Scout" event at Jeonbuk University, where companies visited soon-to-be graduates. Four companies took part in the event to recruit regional talent.

A Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy representative stated, "There will be 5 relay-like scouting events at different universities around the region. More than 20 SMEs will take part, as well as about 10,000 job-seeking youth."
