On May 17, Jeonbuk-do announced that it will build 81 smart factories in step with the government's policy to make smart manufacturing sites as a means to improve the fundamentals of industries.
Smart factories are intelligent factories incorporating AI robot, big data, IoT while applying ICT all through design, development, manufacturing, and distribution processes.
It plans to build smart factories in SMEs to improve productivity, quality competitiveness, and working conditions.
The province will put focus on laying the foundation, expanding support, and creating environment conducive to building smart factories in this year.
To this end, the province is to run Jeonbuk TechnoPark as a smart manufacturing innovation center.
Also, it will endeavor to supply smart factories in earnest together with Jeonbuk branch of the Ministry of SMEs and Startups.
An official of Jeonbuk-do government said, "Making manufacturing sites smart is key to improving the fundamentals of regional industries and revitalizing SMEs."
