Jeonju-si, Jeonbuk-do is set to establish an intelligent traffic system capable of managing sudden incidents, analysis of traffic flow, and priority entry of emergency vehicles on major roads.

On September 17, Jeonju-si announced that it was selected for "2020 Intelligent Transport System (ITS)" competition publically offered by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport (MOLIT), securing the government budget of KRW 1.53 billion.

It will build the core infrastructure of ITS, including additional installation of intelligent CCTV in major intersections by injecting KRW 2.55 billion in total next year.

The core infrastructure includes management of sudden accidents through installation of intelligent CCTV, installation of electronic visual display showing current road situations, and improvement of sign program to assign priority sign for emergency vehicles.

In more detail, the city will install intelligent CCTV system in major intersections to recognize road and traffic situations and traffic accidents, reducing secondary accidents.

At the same time, it will build the traffic big data by using CCTV system video analysis, and lay the foundation for smart sign system to reduce traffic congestion.
