According to Yonhap News,

North Jeolla Province announced on Dec. 16 that their new project to run feasibility study on the local industrial cluster to facilitate hydrogen economy was finally approved by Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy (MOTIE). The main theme of the research is how to move toward so called ‘Green Hydrogen Economy’, which refers to as a type of green energy sources powered by renewables to generate electricity without discharging any harmful emissions such as CO2, by making use of renewable sources secured in Saemangeum.

As part of national plans, in pursuit of hydrogen economy, the province came up with a draft to newly facilitate an industrial agglomeration in which the entire cycle of energy supply –production, storage, transportation, application and even R&D - is available.

The local authority explained they’re able to gear up for the project, being ready to welcome the largest green energy producer, whose size is equivalent to 14,000 tons of hydrogen power, by building up a 100MW power station in Saemangeum.

They’ve already formed industry affiliated academia sponsorship program among local business who’re responsible for storage, EV and fuel cell.
