Jangsu –gun to run ‘Smart Green City’

Jangsu –gun in North Jeolla Province said on Jan 1 that the community-led project, what’s called ‘Smart Green City’, seeking ways to go green to tackle the current environmental issues of pollution and climate change was finally approved by the environment ministry.
With KRW 10 billion in total by the end of next year, the town leaders are set to facilitate the city environment greener and sustainable.
The project entails the formation of a smart waste disposal platform, running environment protection campaigns, managing renewable energy systems across the town, building out smart water supply infrastructure and separate collection systems by which resources coming from wastes are recycled (or upcycled).
The town leader said “The project is highly anticipated to lay the foundation for our commitment to go greener, triggering a ‘green movement’, where all community residents take part in.”
