According to Yonhap News,

A 'library travel metaverse', allowing users to visit the libraries of Jeonju and Iksan in the virtual space, will be built.

Iksan-si announced on July 14 that it had secured KRW 1 billion (total project cost KRW 2 billion) from the government after being selected, along with Jeonju, for the new deal project for cooperation among local governments by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety.

This is a project to realize a virtual space in the metaverse where you can travel and experience the libraries of the region, reflecting the uniqueness of regional libraries in Jeonju and Iksan.

The local governments plan to introduce specialized libraries such as Yucheon Library, a library in Iksan specialized in ecology, Geumma Library, a traditional hanok-type, and Jeonju Municipal Library, and Book Column Library after building the metaverse platform.

In addition to library tours, the metaverse platform is planned to provide differentiated library contents such as an immersive library and a virtual reading festival.

Also, there will be separate place in the metaverse where local bookstores can be promoted and communicate, revitalizing local commercial areas.
