According to Yonhap News,

Iksan City, Jeollabuk-do, proposed a blueprint that will lead the growth of the bio industry based on the Green Bio Venture Campus.

The city held a discussion on the topic of 'fostering the bio industry' on July 11, participated by experts from the relevant fields, where the participants explored the ways to develop as the green bio innovation park, which will expand the ecosystem of agro biotech and promote a new engine for innovative growth.

The discussion was attended by Jeonbuk Institute for Food-Bioindustry, Jeonbuk Institute, Korea Agriculture Technology Promotion Agency, The Food Industry Promotional Agency of Korea, and experts from universities in the region.

The city explained its plan to create a 'Green Bio Venture Campus (28,000 square meters)' in the Hamyeol Agro-Industrial Complex in the second half of this year and the ways to build a venture and startup ecosystem of the agro-biotech sector.

The venture campus will be built with investment of KRW 26.4 billion by 2024, equipped with conference rooms, spaces for tenant companies, research/experimental facilities, and operation support facilities.

The discussion addressed how the bio industry should develop, such as the roles of organizations related to the green bio ventures, how to build network, strategy to differentiate with other domestic green bio venture campuses, and how to expand green bio venture campus.

A city official said, "If promising venture companies, research institutes, and investment institutions in the green bio field are integrated in one place, sharing relevant information and bolstering collaboration, it will be helpful for Iksan to establish itself as the capital of the agro-life field, supported by the already established National Food Cluster."
