According to Yonhap News,

Jeonbuk's Korea Federation for Environmental movement and other environmental organizations on Mar. 29 had a press conference to "condemn the indiscriminate logging that damages the landscape and ecosystem of Jeonju-cheon stream and Samcheon."

The organizations and lawmakers said, "Jeonju, on the pretext of preventing the floods by securing river passage areas, cut down willow trees."

They also argued, "The city did not conduct any research or draw up any standard, and also it did not consult with other organizations regarding ecology or environment and pushed forward unilaterally."
