Groundbreaking Ceremony for Green Bio Venture Campus Held in Hamyeol-eup, Iksan

A "Green Bio Venture Campus" will be established in Hamyeol-eup, Iksan, Jeollabuk-do, which will serve as a development base for the future agricultural and bio industry.

On December 12, Iksan-si announced that it held a groundbreaking ceremony for the Venture Campus at Hamyeol Agricultural and Industrial Complex.

The groundbreaking ceremony was attended by about 200 people including Iksan Mayor, Iksan Council Chairman, officials from the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs (MAFR) and residents.

At the cerermony, Iksan's Mayor said, "The Green Bio Venture Campus will play a central role in establishing Iksan as a bio-industry city," adding, "We will also develop growth engines in the agricultural and food sector."

The Green Bio Venture Campus, jointly promoted by the city, the MAFR, and the Korea Agricultural Technology Promotion Agency (KOTA), will be completed in 2025 with a total project cost of KRW 26.5 billion.

It will have one basement floor and four floors above the ground, with a total area of 7,219㎡.

The Campus will be filled by offices of startups, conference rooms, and research and experimental facilities, where consultation on business establishment business funding, and other consulting will be provided to startups.

The city expects that the foundation for creating an ecosystem for the green bio industry will be laid when startups and research and investment institutions, who will lead the agricultural life sector, move in the Campus.
