According to Yonhap News,

Gunsan-si, Jeonbuk State said that Eco&Dream held a groundbreaking ceremony for a precursor production plant, a key material for secondary batteries, in Saemangeum National Industrial Complex on February 20.

Eco&Dream plans to build a high-nickel precursor production plant with a capacity of 30,000 tons per year, and begin mass-production from the second quarter of 2025.

The precursor, a compound mixed with raw materials such as nickel, cobalt, and manganese, is a key raw material for cathode material of a secondary battery.

Eco&Dream will continue to expand its plant by 2030.

Gunsan's mayor said, "we will not spare support for construction of infrastructure and improvement of workers' settlement conditions so that Gusan can become a key base in the value chain of the global secondary battery".
