Jeonbuk's Governor and CEO Jaehoon Chang of Hyundai Motor signed an MOU to cooperate in "hydrogen industry innovation" at the Provincial Government on November 19.
The agreement aims to establish a cooperation s ystem to revitalize the hydrogen economy in the province based on the foundation of the hydrogen industry that the State has accumulated over the years and Hyundai Motor's technology.
The MOU includes: Construction of a hydrogen charging station on the premises of the provincial government; Demonstration of water electrolysis technology within the Buan Renewable Energy Complex; Construction of ammonia cracker test platform for ammonia decomposition; deployment of hydrogen forklifts and special hydrogen vehicles; and provision of fuel cell generators.
Under the agreement, Jeonbuk State plans to expand the hydrogen industry infrastructure and promote the revitalization of the hydrogen economy.
In particular, the establishment of a hydrogen charging station on the premises of the provincial government is set the goal of starting construction in 2026 after administrative procedures such as applying for a budget from the Ministry of Environment.
Jeonbuk's governor expressed expectation, "this MOU will be a stepping stone for Jeonbuk to become the center of the hydrogen industry," adding, "We will play a leading role in revitalizing the local economy and converting to eco-friendly energy in cooperation with Hyundai Motor."
