On April 17, Jeonbuk State announced that it will invest KRW 85.7 billion in eight fisheries sectors to realize sustainable fisheries and create thriving fishing communities.
The province will first invest KRW 10.3 billion in the restoration of marine ecosystems and the development of fishery resources, including the release of 6.25 million fish seeds, the creation of spawning habitats, and the installation of artificial reefs.
It will also invest KRW 12.2 billion to enhance the fisheries food industry and stimulate consumption, and to establish a seafood export processing complex, build seafood processing plants, and expand domestic and international markets for seafood products.
A total of KRW 25.7 billion will be allocated to improving aging fishing village infrastructure and creating diverse job opportunities, while KRW 19.8 billion will be dedicated to enhancing the welfare of fishermen.
