According to Yonhap News,

Jeonju-si, Jeonbuk State, has broken ground on the 'MICE Complex City Development Project' (MICE: Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, Exhibitions).

On August 8th, a groundbreaking ceremony was held at the site of the old Jeonju Comprehensive Stadium's baseball field in Deokjin-dong, attended by over 200 people, including Jeonju Mayor, Jeonju City Council Chair, city councilors, and citizens.

This project aims to develop a complex with cultural and industrial facilities, accommodation, and retail spaces, with a total investment of KRW 18 billion by 2028. The core of the project is the redevelopment of the 121,231㎡ site of the old Jeonju Comprehensive Stadium and the creation of infrastructure.

The first phase will focus on land preparation, including the construction of internal roads, parking lots, and the demolition of structures.

Subsequent phases will include the construction of a convention center, a Korean cultural experience exhibition hall, an art museum, hotels, and department stores, with related infrastructure such as roads, parking, and green spaces developed according to the construction timeline.

The city plans to start the construction of the convention center and the Korean cultural experience exhibition hall , once the first phase is complete.

Next year, the city also plans to begin construction of G-Town, which will use AI to create advanced digital cultural content, and the Jeonju City Museum of Art.

The hotel to be built on the site is progressing rapidly, following an investment agreement between Jeonbuk State, Jeonju-si, and Lotte Shopping regarding investment subsidies. The department store is currently in the design phase.
