According to Yonhap News,

On September 24, Jeonju-si, Jeonbuk State held a groundbreaking ceremony for the Jeonju Convention Center, a major project to establish global exhibition and convention infrastructure, at the Jeonju Sports Complex site.

The ceremony featured a pre-event performance, the national pledge, introductions of distinguished guests, a promotional video screening, a calligraphy performance, the groundbreaking performance, and a celebratory concert.

With an investment of approximately KRW 300 billion, the Jeonju Convention Center will be built by 2028, covering a total floor area of 83,000 square meters, with one basement level and four above-ground floors.

The center will include a 10,000㎡ exhibition hall, a large conference hall accommodating over 2,000 people, and 22 medium and small meeting rooms.

Outside the main building, a 10,000㎡ multi-purpose plaza will also be developed.

In addition, a hotel and department store are planned to be constructed near the convention center to enhance the surrounding business environment.

Once completed, the city envisions the center as a hub for hosting large-scale MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions) events, positioning Jeonju as a key domestic and international destination for business and tourism.
