According to Yonhap News,

The infrastructure for producing eco-friendly offshore wind energy in the Jeonbuk region is expected to gain momentum.

On November 19th, Jeonbuk State signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) at the "Carbon Korea 2025" exhibition, the only carbon material exhibition in the country, held at the aT Center in Seoul. The MOU was signed with 12 institutions and companies, including Gunsan-si, the Korea Institute of Materials Science, the Korea Electrotechnology Research Institute, HS Hyosung Advanced Materials, and Toray Advanced Materials.

The province explained that this MOU is strategically significant as it connects Jeonbuk's carbon material technology with the offshore wind energy industry, considering that offshore wind turbine blades are made from carbon fiber composite materials as a core raw material.

The institutions and companies involved agreed to collaborate on: developing a domestic blade standard and modular model; expanding supply chain infrastructure and production facilities for demonstration, mass production, and distribution; and creating a cluster linked to the surrounding ports.

Jeonbuk State aims to establish an ecosystem for the offshore wind turbine blade industry and enhance the competitiveness of Korea's renewable energy sector based on this agreement.

The Vice Governor of Economic Affairs for Jeonbuk stated, "If local governments, companies, and research institutions come together to build the offshore wind blade ecosystem, Jeonbuk will become a key hub in the renewable energy industry."
