[Sejong = Newsis] Reporter Kim Dong-hyun - KDN announced on the 3rd that it signed the "Wanju AI Data Center Construction Agreement" for the establishment of an energy-hub type data center at the Wanju County Office on the 26th of last month.

The Wanju AI Data Center construction project will be carried out through public-private cooperation, with Techno Green Co., Ltd. taking charge of general implementation, and KDN, LG Electronics, and partners participating. The total project cost is approximately KRW 270 billion, and it will be built in the Wanju Techno Valley 1st Industrial Complex in Jeonbuk Special Self-Governing Province.

The power reception capacity of the facility will start at 20 megawatts (MW) in the first stage and can be gradually expanded to 40 MW in the future. KDN will perform tasks such as electric power, Information and Communication Technology (ICT), and integrated operation design, construction of the energy-hub type data center, and technical cooperation in the field of efficient energy management and operation. LG Electronics will handle technical and business participation of its affiliates and partners, construction design, building, and maintenance.

KDN plans to participate from the power infrastructure design stage to ensure the stability of the power reception system and implement an operational structure that can integrally manage power, equipment, and communication systems.

An official from KDN said, "We will do our best as a public enterprise to contribute to national development through various actions that lay the foundation for the construction of data centers, which will serve as a foundation for implementing government policies aimed at leaping into one of the top three AI powerhouses."
