Iksan Aggressively Attract Domestic and Foreign Food Companies

According to Yonhap News,

 

Iksan City, Jeonbuk-do (North Jeolla Province) has shown active move to get domestic and foreign food companies move into Iksan National Food Cluster.

 

According to Iksan City on March 21st, the City had consultations with about 150 domestic and foreign food companies and research institutes last year and plans to increase the figure to 200 this year.

 

About 80 companies and research institutes expressed their interest in the food cluster, and they will be the primary targets of Iksan in its efforts.

 

The City plans to make a list of promising companies with which it didn’t have consultations last year, and sound out their intention. Iksan will cooperate with the Ministry for Food, Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, Jeonbuk-do, and Support Center for National Food Cluster to efficiently push forward the investment promotion activities.

 

Also, Iksan will attend International Food Industry Exhibition, which will be held at KINTEX, Ilsan (April), International Fermented Food Expo (October), World Korean Business Convention (November), and Korea Food Expo to hold investment seminars.

 

The City will participate in Sial China 2011 in Shanghai in May, IFT Food Expo 2011 in the U.S. in June, Fine Food Australia in September, and Anuga in Cologne, Germany in October to conduct promotional activities towards participating companies.

 

The government plans to invest KRW 808.2 billion to form a food industrial complex in the area of 400ha in Wanggung-myeon, Iksan City which will be occupied by about 100 foreign and domestic food companies and about ten research institutes.

 

The National Food Cluster will break ground in April in 2013 after land compensation when the Ministry of Land, Transport, and Maritime Affairs approves the project plan which is based on the development plan commissioned by Korea Land & Housing Corporation.
