According to Yonhap News,

Jeonbuk-do (North Jeolla Province) said on April 8th that it decided to introduce eco-friendly materials to the production facilities for sun-dried salt in a bid to improve the safety of its solar salt products.

Jeonbuk plans to replace the current infrastructure of solar salt production such as flooring, bank, and slate roof of warehouses with materials that do not harm the environment, as there is an increasing demand for better safety of sun-baked salt.

The Province will invest about KRW 250 million in four salt farms in Gunsan, Gochang, and Buan this year.

The bay salt production volume in Jeonbuk is around 6,000 tons, or 2.8% of the national total, but is touted as high-quality salt with great taste thanks to its production base of tidal flat which contains abundant minerals.
